A WORK IN PROGRESS

With this volume I am trying to capture the impact of the Reformation on the Great Migration of our ancestors to American shores where they joined other of our ancestors: people of the Native Nations, thus creating a new world and adventure. In covering my family and those of my in laws I found that I was writing disjointed stories. In reality, our ancestors were already in contact with one another and family lines were joining long before any of us got here! So, I have decided to throw them all together as they were, back then, and indicate what part of our family line they represent. Names of our ancestors will appear bold:  ggf means they are a great grandfather and ggm means great grandmother.  ggu is a great uncle and gga is an aunt.  I use the abbreviation regardless of how many generations ago….  I go on Ancestry.com to see how far back a name is found in our tree. It may be as many as 30 greats ago!

I am developing two other units: one will be a series of chapters that are a prelude to 1638.  The first unit will cover Viking history up to  the ocean explorers found in our tree including the Drakes, Grenvilles and others.  The third unit will cover more recent family members who moved from Colonial America, through time and place to the present.
