This tree shows the growth of the New England branch of the Sullivan Family Tree that Betty’s mother Laurel brought into her marriage to Grandfather Clifford Whittington. You won’t find a Sullivan on this chart as they come in from a different direction. This branch of your total tree contains the children of Protestants who fled England in the 1630’s. Many of them arrived at the same time as the Whittingtons in Virginia (1636-8) and my Stilley family from Sweden. The folks on this page are the descendants of preachers and congregations who feared for their lives and fled England amidst the heavy handed persecution of one Archbishop Laud.
